Baguio City, October 2025 — The University of the Cordilleras (UC), through the Student Development and Welfare Center (SDWC), successfully conducted the SA Growth Hub — a development program designed to enrich the skills and capacities of its Student Assistants. Held on October 28–29, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 NN at various campus venues, the program brought together student assistants from across colleges and offices to participate in hands-on workshops aligned with their interests and future goals.
The SA Growth Hub aimed to provide a platform for student assistants to grow professionally, strengthen their competencies, and develop valuable life skills beyond their daily work assignments.
The two-day event featured five simultaneous workshops, each facilitated by expert resource persons from partner units across the university:
- Computer Literacy — equipping SAs with essential digital skills for workplace productivity.
- Communication Literacy (Verbal and Written) — enhancing verbal and written communication skills to foster clearer, more effective interactions.
- Peer Support and Mental Health — focusing on emotional well-being, stress management, and peer support strategies.
- Livelihood Program — a hands-on workshop on baking simple pastries, emphasizing entrepreneurial skills.
- Exploring Online Resources and Citation Guide — training on navigating digital libraries and academic citation for research excellence.
Each student assistant was given the freedom to choose the workshop that best matched their interests and development needs, promoting a learner-centered approach that encouraged engagement and active participation.
The SA Growth Hub is set to continue annually during the first term of the academic year, ensuring that every student assistant has the opportunity to benefit from holistic development and lifelong learning.
