The University of the Cordilleras through the Student Affairs Services – Student Development and Welfare Center (SAS–SDWC) successfully conducted UC EcoAction: “One Action at a Time” on January 15, 2026, at Busol Watershed. The half-day sustainability initiative was funded by the University Student Council (USC) and served as a continuation of Project SAGIP’s reforestation efforts.
The activity brought together scholars, TES and TDP grant beneficiaries, and members of the University Student Council. Participants engaged in tree care, cleaning, and weeding activities, all aimed at promoting healthier forest growth and long-term environmental sustainability. Notably, this marks the second consecutive year that the University of the Cordilleras (UC) has returned to Busol Watershed to conduct tree care and maintenance activities.

UC EcoAction is aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 13 (Climate Action) and SDG 15 (Life on Land). Beyond environmental rehabilitation, the initiative emphasized the importance of environmental stewardship, responsibility, and sustained commitment among students and partner organizations.
Mr. Joeffrey Tuged, CEPMO Forester assigned at Busol Watershed, expressed his appreciation for the UCs’ continued involvement in the area. He noted that while many institutions focus solely on tree planting, UC consistently returns to conduct tree care, cleaning, and weeding activities, which are essential to the survival and growth of the trees. He further expressed his hope that this partnership and commitment would continue in the years to come.

Through collaborative ecological rehabilitation efforts such as UC EcoAction, the SAS–SDWC, together with the USC, continues to nurture a greener future while empowering students to take meaningful and sustained action—one action at a time.
