In a shared commitment to promoting accessible and inclusive education, the University of the Cordilleras (UC), in coordination with the Commission on Higher Education – Cordillera Administrative Region Unified Student Financial Assistance System for Tertiary Education (CHED-CAR UniFAST), hosted an orientation for the new beneficiaries of the Tertiary Education Subsidy (TES) and the Tulong Dunong Program (TDP-TES) for the First Semester of Academic Year 2023–2024, in support of SDG 4: Quality Education.

Morning Session
Held on January 7, 2024, at the UC campus in Baguio City, the activity brought together 118 TES recipients and 133 TDP-TES grantees, highlighting UC’s continuing dedication to student support and welfare through strong partnerships with CHED.
The morning session catered to the TES beneficiaries and featured a comprehensive discussion of their roles and responsibilities. Dr. Bernadette C. Pal-ec, Education Supervisor II and UniFAST Focal Person of CHED-CAR, facilitated the orientation and emphasized the importance of responsible grant management and academic integrity.

Afternoon Session
In the afternoon, the TDP-TES grantees attended a separate session led by CHED-CAR UniFAST Regional Coordinator, Ms. Ana Grace P. Salibad. The session detailed the specific guidelines and procedures of the program, ensuring that grantees are well-informed about their benefits and obligations.
This orientation marks a meaningful start for the new scholars and serves as a testament to UC’s commitment to providing not just academic opportunities, but also strong support systems for its students.
As a proud partner of CHED-CAR and UniFAST, UC continues to champion initiatives that empower learners and uphold the value of education as a tool for personal and community transformation.
